Introduction                                                 

Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business (GSB) offers a dual-degree opportunity that allows Masters students at National Chiao Tung University (NCTU)  to earn a Master of Science in Global Finance (MSGF) degree from Fordham.  All current students and recent alumni of the program, who have successfully completed an approved Masters degree in Finance or Economics are eligible to apply for the program.

 

Students of MSGF will acquire the ability to implement corporate goals through financial strategies that use the opportunities available in today’s global financial markets. They will also have the unique advantage of receiving a Masters degree from a well-known American University, joining the alumni networks of Fordham University and Fordham’s partner universities.

Fordham University is located in the State of New York, USA.  Fordham has three campuses: the Lincoln Center Campus in midtown Manhattan in New York City, the Rose Hill campus in the Bronx in New York City, and the Westchester campus in Westchester. Fordham University Gabelli School of Business is located at the Lincoln Center campus in New York City, blocks away from Central Park, Columbus Circle, and Time Square.

 

Fordham University GSB was ranked 21st in the ranking of Best Business Schools in MBA Finance Specialty and 14th in International Business by U.S. News and World Report.

International Collaborative-MSGF Program Structure

The MS Global Finance degree requires students to complete 12 courses. The proposed collaborative program offers an innovative curriculum to alumni to current students and alumni of approved Masters program in Finance and Economics and has three components: 

(1)   The curriculum allows students who have studied for the master degrees at an international partner college or university to transfer up to 12 credits from the MBA/EMBA/Masters towards the Fordham MSGF degree.  Course outlines and academic content of classes taken at the partner college will be used to determine the transfer courses. 

(2)   Students who have completed an internship or completed a thesis can waive the internship requirement for the MSGF program.

(3)   Students must complete six additional MSGF courses offered by Fordham.  The six courses, all offered in June and July 2020 in New York are outlined below.  Please note these courses and all schedules are subject to final confirmation. 

 

The following MSGF Courses will be offered in New York from June 8, 2020 – July 24, 2020.

GFGB 7001      Global Financial Markets and Institutions

GFGB 7002 Contemporary Issues in Global Finance

GFGB 7007 Raising Capital and Investing in Global Markets

GFGB 7004 Global Equity Portfolio Management

GFGB 7050 Machine Learning for Finance

GFGB 7006 Global Risk Management

Tuition, fees, and expenses

The net tuition charges for the 2020 Collaborative MSGF program is $20,374.00 and reflects financial aid offered by Fordham GSB.  Tuition is payable when students enroll for Fordham courses.  The reduced tuition available to Collaborative MSGF students is financed by Fordham University.

Please also note that in addition to the tuition, Fordham University also charges several student service fees.  The following fees are effective for year 2020: 

$82 General Fee, $164 Technology Fee, $40 International Student Fee + the Health Insurance Fee. Each student is responsible for all University fees.

 Living expenses in New York are also additional to the tuitions and fees. The International student office requires that students budget $4,000 for living expenses for their stay in New York.  These amounts may be subject to change from year to year.

VISA matters

Collaborative MSGF students will be considered to be international students at Fordham University and have to apply for a student VISA to enter and study in the US. Fordham University’s International Students Office will work with the students to prepare the documentation required for applying for a student VISA at the US consulate. Typically the documents involved are: an Affidavit of Support showing sufficient funds to cover tuition and fees and living expenses prepared by the student, Passport, an I-20 issued by Fordham University’s International Students Office.

Please note that students will not be able to enroll at Fordham on a visitor’s VISA.  It is important to apply for a Student VISA for their studies.
